코로나바이러스 얕잡아본 이란 보건부 차관 확진 판정받아

The head of an Iranian government task force on the coronavirus who had urged the public not to overreact about its spread has tested positive for the illness himself, authorities said Tuesday.

코로나바이러스의 확산에 대해 과민반응을 보이지 말 것을 촉구했던 이란 보건부 차관이 이 바이러스에 대한 양성반응을 보였다고 이란 당국은 화요일 밝혔다.

Only a day earlier, a coughing and heavily sweating Iraj Harirchi said at a televised news conference in Tehran that ''the situation is almost stable in the country.''

불과 하루 전만 해도 테헤란에서 TV로 생중계된 기자회견에서 이라즈 하리르치 보건부 차관은 기침을 하고 땀을 많이 흘리며 “상황은 거의 안정된 상태”라고 말했다.

Iran on Tuesday also saw a crucial air link cut to the United Arab Emirates, home to the world's busiest airport for international travel in Dubai, as Bahrain announced more confirmed cases of the virus from passengers who transited through the UAE.

아랍에미리트를 경유해서 바레인에 입국한 승객 중 확진자들이 발생하자, 세계에서 가장 분주한 두바이국제공항이 있는 아랍에미리트로 가는 이란발 항공편이 화요일 끊어졌다.

The number of cases also increased sharply elsewhere in the region.

이란 외 중동 지역에서도 확진자 수가 급증하고 있다.

Qatar Airways, one of the Mideast's biggest carriers, also said it was essentially halting operations to Iran and South Korea until further notice.

중동 최대의 항공사 중 하나인 카타르항공도 추후 통보가 있을 때까지 이란과 한국에 대한 운항을 사실상 중단한다고 발표했다.

Health Ministry spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour confirmed Harirchi had the virus.

키아누시 자한푸르 이란 보건부 대변인은 하리르치 차관이 바이러스에 감염되었음을 발표했다.

Harirchi himself posted an online video saying he had it and that he had quarantined himself at home.

하리르치 차관은 바이러스에 감염됐으며 집에서 자가격리에 들어갔다고 말하는 영상을 온라인에 올렸다.

He promised that authorities would bring the virus under control.

그는 당국이 코로나바이러스를 통제할 것이라고 약속했다.

''I wanted to tell you that, rest assured that with efforts of your servants at the Health Ministry ... and backed by you people, the government and all elements of the establishment, we will be victorious in our combat against this virus within the next few weeks,'' Harirchi said.

하리르치 차관은 "보건부 직원들의 노력을 믿고 안심해달라고 여러분께 말씀을 드리고 싶다. 그리고 국민, 정부, 기관들의 모든 지원을 받아 우리는 이 바이러스에 맞서 싸워 몇 주 안에 승리할 것"이라고 말했다.

The coronavirus has infected more than 80,000 people globally, causing about 2,700 deaths, mainly in China. The World Health Organization has named the illness COVID-19. (AP)

코로나바이러스는 전 세계적으로 8만 명 이상을 감염시켰고 2,700명의 사망자를 발생시켰다. 세계보건기구(WHO)는 이 바이러스의 명칭을 COVID-19로 명명했다.
