South Korea's new virus cases coming in from overseas has been on a steady rise.

해외에서 유입되는 국내 코로나바이러스 신규 확진 사례가 꾸준히 늘고 있다.

In an effort to stem a rise in imported cases, South Korea began to suspend visa issuance and non-scheduled flights to restrict entry from Pakistan and Bangladesh on Tuesday, as COVID-19 cases imported from the two nations have recently spiked.

파키스탄과 방글라데시발 확진 사례가 최근 급증하자, 한국은 해외유입 확진자 증가를 막기 위해 두 나라의 비자 발급과 부정기적 항공편 운항을 중단했다.

Still, community spread remains the main challenge for health authorities as cluster infections in the greater Seoul area continued to grow.

Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon said Monday that strict "social distancing" ― enforced nationwide between March 22 and May 5 ― may be re-imposed in the capital if the average daily number of confirmed infections exceeds 30 over the next three days.

박원순 서울시장은 앞으로 3일간 일일 평균 신규확진자 수가 30명을 넘을 경우, 3월 22일부터 5월 5일까지 전국적으로 시행된 엄격한 ‘사회적 거리두기'가 다시 적용될 수 있다고 월요일 밝혔다.

The comment came amid growing concern about a second wave of the virus following a steady rise in infection clusters in the densely populated greater Seoul area that includes the city of Incheon and Gyeonggi Province.

그의 발언은 인천과 경기도를 포함한 인구밀집지역인 수도권 내 집단감염의 꾸준한 증가로 바이러스의 ‘2차 유행'에 대한 우려가 커지고 있는 가운데 나왔다.

"We will have no choice but to return to the previous social distancing if the average daily number of new infections in Seoul for the next three days exceeds 30, or the occupation rate of hospital beds reaches 70 percent," Park said during a media briefing on Monday.

박 시장은 월요일 브리핑을 열고 "오늘 이후 서울시에서 3일간 일일평균 신규 확진자 수가 30명을 넘어서거나 병상 가동률이 70%에 도달하면 종전의 사회적 거리두기로 돌아갈 수밖에 없다"고 말했다.

Park cited a warning from infectious disease experts that the number of new daily COVID-19 cases in the country could reach 800 soon.

박 시장은 국내 코로나19 일일 신규 확진자 수가 곧 800명에 이를 수 있다는 감염병 전문가들의 경고를 인용했다.
