'Mulan' faces boycott in Korea after Chinese actress Liu Yifei's 'support' for Hong Kong protester crackdown

유역비 홍콩경찰 지지 선언... 영화 '뮬란' 보이콧 확산되나

Disney's new live-action flick "Mulan" faces growing calls for a boycott in South Korea after its star Liu Yifei shared a controversial image supporting China's bloody crackdown on pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong on her social media. 

디즈니의 새로운 실사 영화 '뮬란'이 주인공 역을 맡은 배우 유역비(류이페이)가 사회관계망서비스에 홍콩 시위대를 진압하는 경찰을 지지하는 이미지를 올리자 영화 '뮬란'의 불매운동이 국내에서도 꿈틀대고 있다.

Liu, a naturalized U.S. citizen from China, plays Mulan in the movie that will have worldwide release in March. 

미국 시민권자인 유역비는 내년 3월 개봉하는 영화 '뮬란'의 주인공을 연기한다.

The image she shared on Weibo on Aug. 14 reads: "I support Hong Kong's police, you can beat me up now. What a shame for Hong Kong." 

유역비는 지난 14일 중국판 트위터인 웨이보에 "나는 홍콩 경찰을 지지한다. 나를 때려도 좋다. 홍콩은 부끄러운 줄 알라"라고 적힌 이미지를 게시했다.

The quote ― apparently against the protesters ― is said have been from Fu Guohao, a Global Times reporter from mainland China, while allegedly being assaulted by protesters at Hong Kong airport on Tuesday. 

홍콩 시위대를 향해 "나를 때려라"는 이 말은 중국 환구시보의 푸궈하오 기자가 지난 화요일 홍콩 국제공항에서 시위대에게 폭행을 당하며 외친 말이다.

"She is enjoying freedom as an American citizen, while forcing Hong Kong people to make sacrifices," a Korean netizen wrote. "I will not watch any of her works in the future."

국내의 한 네티즌은 "유역비는 미국 시민권자로 자유를 만끽하며 홍콩 시민들에게는 희생을 강요한다"라고 꼬집으며 "유역비가 출연하는 영화를 앞으로 보지 않을 것"이라고 밝혔다.

Another netizen wrote: "I don't want to see a movie starring the person who supports a police crackdown in Hong Kong." Similar voices are spreading on Korean websites.

또 다른 네티즌은 "시위대를 진압하는 홍콩 경찰을 지지하는 유역비의 영화를 보고 싶지 않다"고 글을 올렸다.

Disney remains silent. 

현재 디즈니는 아무런 언급을 하지 않고 있다.

Liu debuted in 2003 in the drama "The Story of a Noble Family" and rose to stardom with the remake version of "A Chinese Ghost Story" in 2011. She is also well-known as the ex-girlfriend of Korean actor Song Seung-heon in Korea. 

유역비는 2003년 드라마 '금분세가'로 데뷔해 2011년 영화 '천녀유혼'의 리메이크로 스타덤에 올랐다. 그녀는 한국에서 배우 송승헌의 전 연인으로도 유명하다.
